Shot Distances

We explored different shot distances. There are eight different shot distances that are popular in the media, these are extreme long shot, long shot, medium long shot, medium shot, medium close up, close up, big close up and extreme close up. They each portray different things to the audience and are used for different reasons. With a partner we also created some of our own shots displaying the different shot distances which enabled us to see how to use technology in such a way to create the correct shot. These are the different shot distances that we created.
This is an example of an extreme long shot. This type of shot is used in the media to show the audience the background and scenery in a shot and to give the audience an idea of where the shot is. In this shot a lot can be seen, including a lot of scenery.

This is an example of an extreme close up shot. This type of shot only shows a very small part of the shot. This is used in the media for intensity, shots like these provide the audience with the feeling of intensity and it also makes the audience feel more connected with the person in the shot and the story they are portraying.
